TV Lies

I find television to be very educating.  Every time somebody turns on the set, I go in the other room and read a book.  ~Groucho Marx

Your Own Revolution

How can people live their lives on behalf of others? Why do we have to follow rules and preconceived beliefs about the way we dress, the studies we have to make, the games we play and the way we act. The answer for me is obvious…We don’t have to! So why are we doing so?

One of the basic reasons of course is the culture in which we have raised. So let’s focus on this. If we have learned to eat vegetables all our lives, it is difficult to change. Also if we have learned to hate our neighbor, we will hate them even if he is a saint.  This is part of our cultural development and it is inevitable. This cultural influence together with the education that we have can lead us to put a threshold in our thoughts perspectives and in the end to our chances to live everything and to choose what is more suitable for us.

So, where does this culture and education come from? Mainly from our parents and our close society. The educational systems of course play also a huge role. But in the end is our parents and our friends that will put limits to our way of thinking and acting, that will force our attitude to a specific dimension. This dimension is one of the million others that exist. No one knows which is the best! And as far as I concern, there is no best one! As I mentioned before the goal is to find the most suitable for yourself and the one that will affect the others the least in terms of limiting their freedom. But what about your freedom? Is it a real one? Or is the freedom that your environment has imposed into your life? We are leading our lives with values, rules and standards that are not created by ourselves! They may be completely wrong but we do not care, being afraid of making the step outside of the common way of behaving.

This is where the title of this article starts to form a meaning. People need to break the chains of this small, homemade, externally created dictatorship they are living in. It is the first step of being independent, self-confident and above all free to choose how we trully want to live. Nothing is right without judgment, and if we are afraid to judge things we may end living a life without true meaning. We need to take the responsibility of all our acts, not being scared of failing so that we can get the most out of this life.

By starting your own revolution, you ignite the thinking process for the problems of the world.

Don't forget to live... A story of a father and a son

There was a man who came back from his work , tired and angry, just to find his 5 years old son waiting him at the doorstep.
-Daddy, can I ask you something? the kid asked.
-Of course son, whats up?
-Daddy, how much money do you earn per hour?
-This is not your business! Why do you ask such a thing?? the man answered furious
-Well, I just want to know. Please tell me how much do you earn in an hour??
-You shouldnt ask this , but ill tell you...I earn 50 euros per hour.
-Oh...
the young boy said staring at the floor, and continued
-Daddy can you please lend me 25 euros??
The father got really angry.
-If the only reason that you asked me this was to lend some money to buy a stupid toy or some other foolish thing then go straight to your room and sleep. And you better think why you are so selfish.Im working really hard every day to hear these childish words from you.
The little boy left quietly and headed to his room.

The man sat alone but he couldnt get out of his head the question of his son..How could he ask such a question just to take some money from him???
But as the time passed , he calmed down and he started thinking that maybe his son was in need for this 25 euros to buy something really important...He wasnt asking for money that often anyway...
He got up,walked to his son's room and opened the door..

-Are you asleep , son?, he asked
-No daddy im awake , the boy answered.
-I thought that maybe i was too strict with you before. It was a really difficult day , full of tension , and I was not calm when we talked. Here , take these 25 euros that you have asked me.
The boy took the money obviously happy.
-Oh thank you so much daddy, he said loudly.
He raised his pillow and unveiled a pack of paper money he had hidden there.
In the view of the money that the boy had , the man got angry again!
-Why you asked for more money when you already have ?? he said furious.
-Because I didnt have enough, but now i do, the boy said.

-Daddy, now I have 50 euros. Can I buy one hour from your time? Please come home early tomorrow , I want to have lunch with you.

The daddy stood up, embraced his son and begged for forgiveness...
